With this update, users can now long-press on a message to reveal an “Edit” pencil button alongside familiar options like copy, delete, and star. This addition streamlines the editing process, making it effortless to modify messages after they’ve been sent.

How It Works

When selecting the “Edit” option, the RCS chat will be placed in the text field, allowing users to make necessary adjustments. Google provides a clear indication that the message is being edited, along with the option to cancel the changes if needed.

Time Limit for Editing

According to reports from @Jhowkira2000 on Twitter, users have a 15-minute window after sending a message to make edits. This aligns with similar functionality found in popular messaging apps like WhatsApp and iMessage, ensuring consistency and user familiarity.

To maintain transparency and security, users can access the original message from the overflow menu by selecting “View details.” This feature offers peace of mind, allowing users to review the original content even after edits have been made.
